HUL To Rename ‘Fair & Lovely’ As ‘Glow & Lovely’, People React With Memes

In a welcome move, Hindustan Unilever recently decided to remove the word ‘Fair’ from their popular fairness product ‘Fair & Lovely’ in order to make their skin-care portfolio more inclusive. But if you are wondering what will be the new name of their old product then here it is. ‘Fair & Lovely’ might become ‘Glow & Lovely’.

According to News18, Hindustan Unilever is seeking a trademark for the new name. On June 17, 2020, the FMCG company had approached the Controller General of Patent Design and Trademark to get the name ‘Glow & Lovely’ registered.

HUL spokesman said that trademark protection is an important aspect for any brand. The company has applied for several trademarks in 2018. “Some of them have received registration, while some applications are pending. We may choose to register other brand names too. We want to manage the unveiling of the new brand name carefully because we want to make sure that the market isn’t filled with counterfeit products that are unsafe. We will not be able to confirm what the new name will be.”

India TV reports that the company had also applied for a trademark under the same name ‘Glow & Lovely’ on September 7, 2018, however, it was rejected. I just hope they have a backup name if this one gets rejected, again. What name would you suggest? Tell us.
