I bet everyone, once in their lifetime wants to really explore that one house in his town that has a reputation of being haunted. People get excited when their locality is listed as a haunted place on a website. And, as humans, we are curious. Curious to see if the haunted places are really spooky, curious to see if you get a glimpse of that spirit of the wailing woman.
If you do set out to explore such a place, I recommend you carry the following.
1. People
I know people are not exactly things, but you need people with you. You cannot go to a ghost hunting expedition all by yourself!
Take a group of at least 8-10 people. The reason behind this is if the haunted place is really haunted and dangerous you need people so that you are not the first one to die.
With this logic, take your worst friends with you.
2. A good pair of running shoes
To scram when everything goes to hell. Run!
3. Shovels
Just like people, some ghosts are complete introverts and will not come out of their graves unless you give them a reason. And unless you can find a person who is a good psychologist and gives dead people therapy, it is unlikely the ghost will show up when you visit.
We all know that we should come out and greet our guests when they visit our homes. Why can’t the ghosts also do the same? Dig their graves and teach them some social skills!
4. Batteries
Lots and lots of batteries. And carry good batteries and not the cheap ones. You do not want your flashlight to fizzle out just when the ghost shows itself to you.
5. Cameras
For taking their pictures, obviously. And also for taking selfies with them. Practice your duck face well and always take permissions from the ghosts before taking their photos. Â Just because they are dead, doesn’t mean they do not have feelings. Also, keep in mind not all of the ghosts are photogenic. Do not scream at them if they can’t do a pose you want.
6. Mutli-spectral goggles
Carry goggles that scan the infrared spectrum. The display should show red for the really hot ones and blue for the really cold ones. Beware, the cold ones can be really sarcastic and do not really care about you.
7. Motion detectors
Some ghosts are sneaky bastards. Like the tigers in a zoo, they keep as far away from the visiting crowd as possible. You should carry motion detectors so that when they sneak past you, you always catch them! They are the dead, and hence, they have no entitlement to privacy!
8. Supersensitive audio recorders
Just like the co-worker who hates your guts and the roommate who wants to kill you in your sleep, ghosts also say bad things about you behind your back. They speak it under their breath and not to your face. So, carry super sensitive audio recorders so that you can hear the bad things they are saying about your mom and sister.
9. Satellite phone
As we all know, cell phones mysteriously lose their networks. Carry a Satphone.
And if the ghosts do not really show up, you can call that Facebook friend from Romania who you thought was a chick, but now you realize that she is actually a dude.
Then play the recording of your super sensitive audio recorder.
Can you hear the sounds of the ghosts laughing at you?
10. A bottle of heavy duty lube
As we know after seeing Vikram and Betal, sometimes the ghosts/spirits literally latch on to us. In such scenarios, it is very resourceful of you if you rub lube all over yourself so that the ghost does not get a good grip on you.
And look at your face in the mirror you handsome dog! How can a ghost NOT latch on to you?
11. AÂ weirdo
A self-proclaimed psychic, a medium, a clairvoyant or even a person who claims to know mantras to repel anything evil. They are extremely valuable in such expeditions because they are the ones who detect the presence first.
They are also advantageous in the reason that the moment they do something weird, you click your picture, get a souvenir and run! Please do not get attached to such people. They are wholly expendable.
