With several foreign brands across various sectors having made a place for themselves in India, desi automobile enthusiasts cannot help but ask, when will ‘Tesla’ come to India? Elon Musk, the Chief of the U.S. electric and clean energy vehicle company has over the years been questioned about the same!
Recently, a Twitter account called ‘Tesla Club India’ shared pictures of two t-shirts which read “India wants Tesla” and “India Love Tesla” to ask Elon Musk when will Tesla make an entry in India.

However, there is a funny flip side to the story. While Elon Musk did say that Tesla might come to India next year, he has been saying the same thing for years now!
According to News18, in 2018, Musk has tweeted how Tesla could “hopefully” be entering India “next year”, i.e. 2019.
Further, a statement issued by IIT Madras in 2019 mentioned that Musk had said that the company’s entry to our country will “probably happen in a year’s time”.
In March 2019, when someone on Twitter asked him about his plans of coming to India, Musk had replied, “Would love to be there this year. If not, definitely next!”
Keeping this in mind, someone online tweeted how Elon Musk saying “next year” every year is like NRIs saying they will come to India but never do!

Maybe Tesla won’t come to India anytime soon. But one can hope!
