11 Year-Old Child In Gujarat Delivers Baby After 6 Men Rape Her Over 9 Months

All parents bring their children into the world and want only the very best for them. They want to protect them in this big, bad land but unfortunately they can’t all the time. Sometimes the world is bad, but sometimes it is downright sickening. Things like child abuse, rapes and murders plague it and we think- are our children safe in the world?

After reading this news you will say the same thing as me- ‘no’.

An 11-year-old girl in Rajkot was allegedly raped by six men over a course of eight to nine months. The child went into labour and has now delivered a baby girl.

According to Indian Express, the girl was admitted to the government-run Rasulkhanji Zanana Hospital in the city after the mother of the minor approached the police. She stated that her daughter had been raped by two men. Since then, she had been undergoing treatment at the hospital.

After being admitted, the doctors concluded that she was more than eight and a half months pregnant. She went into labour and the doctors decided to opt for a cesarean section delivery owning to the fact that the mother to be was just 11.

After the operation both the condition of the mother is stable. However, the baby was born with a congenital defect. The lower portion of the spinal cord is not properly developed and the newborn doesn’t have control over its lower limbs.

Dr. Manish Mehta the medical superintendent of PDU General Hospital said, “Both legs of the baby girl are paralysed and she is in a critical condition.” In another Indian Express report, it said that the condition occurred due to a genetic defect along with an inadequate diet before and during pregnancy.

The police have booked and arrested six persons, including two elderly men aged 67 and 60 and a 17-year-old boy for the alleged rape on different occasions.

The five of the six accused have been identified as Manji Javiya (67), Aravind Kubavat (52), Vijanand Maiyad (47), Vipul Chavda (40) and Govind Sakariya (60).

Police say that the accused are residents of the same locality of Rajkot where the girl lives. They used to call her to their homes and would sexually assault her multiple times.

Five of the accused are in judicial custody while the minor boy has been sent to an observation home in the city.

The family of the minor mother want nothing to do with the baby. The 11-year-old’s maternal grandmother sat in the ward, eyes shut and in deep prayer. She said,

“We don’t want the baby because my granddaughter is a child. If we accept the child, it will ruin my granddaughter’s life. What have we done to deserve this fate?”

Talking about their family the grandmother also added, “My granddaughter used to stay with me all the time as my house is just a five-minute walk from hers. My son-in-law is mentally ill, my daughter works as a domestic help and runs the family.”

There are two constables,  Sona Ranjit and Sejal Parmar who have been looking after the baby. She has been under their care since she was born. Talking about the baby’s fate, Ranjit said,

DNA tests and further investigations are still to be conducted to find out the paternity of the newborn.

For God’s sake six men raping an eleven-year-old child who gave birth to a baby due to their perversion. How are such repulsive human beings still around us? Crushing a child’s innocence at such a young age, I truly have no words for such men. All we can do is just hope that justice isn’t denied or delayed in this case.
