If I had a penny for every time I ate daal chawal with a spoon and was called a “foreigner”, I wouldn’t need to work anymore. Because the rule in desi households is that food needs to be eaten with your hands. And the only explanation you get if you question this rule is, “Khaane ka asli swaad toh haath se khaane se aata hai.”
This is why when Gurinder Chadha, the director of the film ‘Bend It Like Beckham’, saw her kid eat aloo ka paratha with a spork and a knife, she was flabbergasted! According to NDTV, she took to Twitter to post a picture of the scene and wrote, “How on earth did I raise a child who insists on eating aloo parathas with a knife and fork! Fiteh Moo!”
Have a look at her tweet here:
Oh wow is me! How on earth did I raise a child who insists on eating Allu parantas with a knife and fork! Fiteh Moo! pic.twitter.com/lyAthcz9vZ

People online were left divided. While there were many who called eating parathas with a fork and a knife a “crime” and compared it to something as “bad” as “pineapple on pizza”, others found it relatable and revealed how they too eat Indian food with a fork and a spoon to prevent their hands from getting dirty.
Excuse me!! Nothing wrong with that. I do too 💪

FFS who the hell eats tomato & onion salad with https://t.co/BiCBtQbjeb should be accompanied by achar(pickles) or chutney.

This is an utter #insult and #atyachaar on that poor parantha. It is indeed a #fittemooh moment. 😂
But brighter side, atleast they are eating it and with Makhni or butter on it.— Raminder Singh (@chouhanraminder) March 4, 2021
