Teenager Takes i-pill After Having ‘Sex’, Tells Doctor. Doctor Finds She Didn’t Have Sex At All!

In a country where people are literally waiting for a reason to be judgemental about, it is no surprise that a natural, human desire like ‘sex’ has been made a taboo. It is absolutely weird how we are uncomfortable discussing one of the most important parts of our lives and tend to guard it with social norms and religious restrictions.

As a result, parents leave their children with the lack of proper knowledge and make them vulnerable to sexual risks.

Taking to Facebook, Dr. SV Kutty narrated her experience with a young girl which will drive our point home.

In her post, she talked about a 17-year-old girl who came to her for a checkup. According to the teenager, she had sex with her boyfriend and had followed it up by consuming an I-Pill, a medicine used to prevent pregnancy.

“Had a 17 year old female patient today who told me she had had sex and that she had taken the emergency I pill to prevent pregnancy.”

However, in a bid to prove her innocence, the girl went on explaining the situation to the doctor. She claimed to be extremely ashamed of herself and also promised to never repeat it again. Dr. Kutty consoled the confused soul and assured her that everybody gets involved in sexual activities but its always better to take precautions.

“She was then apologizing to me, saying that it was a one time mistake. She was ashamed of herself and desperately wanted to impress upon me that she isn’t bad! I kept telling her that it’s ok. That everyone indulges in sexual intimacy and the importance is in safety!”

When the conversation escalated further, Dr. Kutty came to know what exactly happened. During the discussion, the girl told her that she is not aware of how a male sexual organ looks like or what exactly sex is. It was then when the doctor found out that she had done nothing but had just kissed her boyfriend.

“She didn’t know what a male sexual organ is called or looked like. I sat her down, drew diagrams and explained the act to her. This was a young girl who was berating herself for simply having kissed her boyfriend. The state of sex education is so abysmal that she thought, kissing, will make her pregnant and she used a contraceptive. Imagine how alone we have made our kids feel. Imagine how much better she would have felt if she had been armed with adequate knowledge and a non judgemental society! Imagine.”

Dr. Kutty then calmed the young one down and explained the whole process of sex to her with the help of diagrams.

Sex education is important. Period. It’s high time we break the stereotype and try to teach the younger generation about the phenomenon that is obvious and natural. With accurate and necessary information, it will make them nothing but cautious, able and mature enough to enough to use precautions against unwanted pregnancies and STDs, rather than being ignorant about the whole process and consuming contraceptive pills only after kissing.
