News Channel Says Disha Patani Looked “Ugly” In School Pic, Gets Badly Roasted On Twitter

Media, according to many, has the power to shape individual minds. It’s a powerful tool that can be used to change and create social consciousness. Thus, it walks around with a heavy burden of responsibilities.

News 24, a mainstream media house, posted ‘then’ and ‘now’ pictures of actor, Disha Patani. They tweeted saying, “Can you believe how ugly Disha Patani looked once?”

The picture on the left is from Patani’s childhood days as student, while the one on the right is her, striking a pose on a red carpet.

They also posted an article, talking about the drastic ‘transformation’ the actor has gone through over the years. Talking about how Patani looked during her school days, they wrote,

“There is a shocking picture of Disha Patani where she is seen as a plain Jane, very ordinary, and dull.”

They further illustrated that the now “coy and elegant” Patani has made it into the competitive Bollywood industry all thanks to her “good work and wonderful looks.”

The article goes on to call her an “ordinary looking girl, wearing a school uniform” who is unrecognisable. They say that this “contrast” between the two pictures is almost “shocking.”

The Tweet has since been deleted. However, the article is still posted on their website.

It is deeply saddening that a mainstream media house whose banner says “aapka bharosemand news channel” is promoting this thinking. You are calling a celebrity “ugly” just because she doesn’t fit into a prototype of what you think is beautiful. SMH.
