Bollywood Film Fraternity’s meet with PM Narendra Modi is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. The meeting, which was called to discuss the future of Indian cinema saw some big names in Bollywood like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, Rakesh Roshan, Ritesh Sidhwani, Bhushan Kumar, Sidharth Roy Kapur and CBFC head Prasoon Joshi. But no women directors or actors were present at the meet.
Heartfelt thank you to the honorable Prime Minister @narendramodi ji for taking out time to hear us at length, discuss issues pertaining to our industry and assuring positive consideration of suggestions. pic.twitter.com/ShGfr0Jlvu

With 2018 being a successful year for the women in the industry, their absence in an important discussion of the film industry is certainly, debatable. Moreover, as the #metoo movement too took the pace towards the end of the year, people believe that this could have been a great opportunity for the female celebs to talk to the PM about such issues in the industry.
Many female actors have come forward to express their disappointment on the issue.
Dia Mirza took at dig Akshay Kumar by retweeting his picture from the meet and questioned, why there were no women in the room.
This is wonderful! Is there a reason why there were no women in this room? @akshaykumar https://t.co/oO9teT3Gyi

Dia also came up with a fitting reply to one of the users who said that women don’t always need to compete with men. Well, expecting an equal involvement of women in all the work and society related conversations is clearly, not competing with men. It is rather, seeking gender neutrality, which we all have been aiming to bring in our country, for years.
It’s not about competition! It’s such a fundamental thing. If we hope to achieve equality we must be included in all conversations! Of course women are doing well. We are doing well despite the fact that we are excluded. And doesn’t that need to change? https://t.co/D9ug3OG55U

You mean the agenda of the meeting that the men had did not merit the presence of women? Clearly you don’t believe women must be included in such conversations!?! Whoever planned that meeting did not consider it necessary to include women. You won’t question that? https://t.co/FGB2FOf3yP

Bollywood actress Sandhya Mridul, too, took a dig at Akshay Kumar’s post:
Great. We women have no issues to discuss. Obviously. https://t.co/iOlwnd7sZB

Quite legit! Akshay has, however, not yet replied to the tweets. Let’s wait and watch how Khiladi Kumar will respond to this backlash!
