There are small things in life that can help you de-stress, like a holiday or a road trip, and then there are smaller, insanely quick ways to do that as well. And the best part is that it takes only 10 minutes out of your busy life to work it’s magic.
If you haven’t already tried these, then here are 10 quick fixes to refresh yourself:
1. Keep a pet fish and watch it swim
It has been proven that keeping fish at home and watching them swim not only soothes your eyes but also keeps your blood pressure in check.
2. Kiss :*
That’s right. You heard it correct. Kissing releases endorphins (happy hormones) in our body and so reduces anxiety and depression.
3. Eat a banana or a potato or both
Potassium is a key ingredient in bananas and potatoes and it directly helps regulate blood pressure levels thus bringing down your stress.
4. Read a poem out loud
Or just your favourite book. Anything will do. Reading helps prevents you from dwelling over negative thoughts and automatically lowers your anxiety levels.
5. Swear out loud – drop the F bomb
Shout and say the F word out loud. Once the negativity is out, your stress is relieved
6. Do a headstand – or try to do one
There are a lot of ways how a headstand decreases stress, but the most basic and obvious reason is that it increases blood flow to your face and brain and brings in a flush of fresh oxygen and nutrients.
7. Scream and let go of the stress
There’s a reason why people scream when on a roller coaster. It is so that they can let go of the nervousness they feel before taking the ride. So join in.
8. Stare at a tree or some foliage
The colour green has been known to have a soothing effect on our eyes and relaxes on the nerve cells in our eyes.
9. Draw in the dark
For those of you who don’t prefer writing, drawing is a perfect way of expressing yourself and putting your thoughts on paper.
10. Blow up a balloon
Blowing up a balloon forces you to breathe more slowly and deeply reducing heart rate & relaxing muscles.
 You’re welcome.
