In a bid to curb the rising number of coronavirus cases in the country, the Delhi government has reportedly announced a 6-day lockdown in the city starting 10 pm tonight till next Monday.

According to a report by NDTV, all private offices will go back to ‘work from home’ mode and only 50 people will be allowed at weddings and 20 at funerals. All malls, cinema halls, shopping complexes, swimming pools, restaurants, salons, gyms, and spas will remain shut during the curfew.
Hence, like last year, we saw scores of people, flouting social distancing norms and crowding outside liquor shops to stock up on their weekly quota.

And amid all these, a video of a woman from outside one of Delhi’s liquor shops went viral. In the clip, one of the journalists asked her why was she waiting outside the shop. To which she replied in Hindi, “Hum lene aae hai 1 bottle 2 pauye.”
She further said:
“Hum isliye aae hai kyuki injection fayda nahi karega, ye alcohol fayda karegi. Ye jitney daro peetey hai utney bandey sahi rahenge, jitney sharabi hai. Ye dawai se humarey ko koi asar nhi hoga, peg se asar hoga. Meko 35 saal ho gae peetey huey mainey aaj tak koi aur doze nhi li. Yehe leti hu 1 peg roz ka.”
When quizzed what does she think of the 1-week lockdown in Delhi, she says, “Bas theeka kholna chahiye. Doctor k pass janey se bach jaenge hum. Ab tak bachey hue hai aur aagey bhi bach jaenge,” she said.
