Describing the incident, Madhup Tiwari, joint commissioner of police (western range) said, “The sound of gunshots caught the attention of the PCR staff and a constable, Naresh, decided to take on the criminals,” reports Hindustan Times.

“Constable Naresh jumped across the road divider and challenged the attackers. One of them, who later turned out to be Dalal, responded by firing in his direction. Reacting in self defence, the policeman used his gun to fire three rounds at Dalal,” said Tiwari. He was hit twice by the bullets and was taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed.

Dalal too had a long history of crimes against him. He escaped the custody of Haryana police in 2018 and was reportedly living in Goa since then. He had returned to Delhi to eliminate Gehlot from the power. The other two gunmen have been reportedly identified. Police have assured that they will be arrested soon.

“The policeman fired the rounds and took cover behind a Metro pillar. Two of the killers checked on their dying friend before driving away, without being challenged,” said one of the eyewitness.

The shootout took place on Dwarka Mor road which is a very high-traffic area in south-west Delhi. This incident has got everyone worried about the rising gang war in the city and its consequences on the common man’s safety!

We hope the Delhi police soon takes strict action against such incidents and people involved.
