Delhi Gurduwara Is Feeding Tamil Farmers For 100 Days Even When They’ve No Link To The Protest

Men in turban have always stood up for humanity. Be it the dreadful night of the Manchester attacks, when they opened Gurudwaras to those in need, or the joyful evening of Eid when they distributed ‘Iftar’ to Muslims. They’ve always showed the world how much a huge heart can do!

Yet again, the wonderful Sikh community has come forth to set an example for the entire effing Universe to follow.

According to an NDTV report, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has taken upon the task to make sure that all Tamil farmers who are sitting in protest at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, are well fed. They have been doing so for over 100 days now with love, care, and joy.

Tamil Nadu is facing its worst drought in 140 years with 60% deficit in rainfall. The farmers have been sitting in protest for over 3 months demanding ₹. 40,000 crore drought relief package.

Sikhs and volunteers of the Bangla Sahib Gurdwara have no link to the protest. While language could have been a huge barrier too, the good thing is, humanity doesn’t require words/sentences. All it requires is a heartfelt deed.

The volunteers of the Gurudwara have been selflessly working round the clock. They serve chapatis, dal, sabzi and kheer to around 10,000 visitors everyday TWICE, so that no one goes hungry. Manjit Singh, President of DSGMC spoke to NDTV and said,

“These protesters at Jantar Mantar come from far places. Neither do they know the language nor where to go to eat. So we deliver langar food twice a day to them. We would have provided them accommodation too but they haven’t asked for that service yet.”

Protesters have hailed these men as godsend. If it wasn’t for them, they would have been scavenging for food.

It’s from incidents like these that our faith in humanity is restored. Sometimes I like to imagine a world with no boundaries, no religion, no community and no languages. Maybe, someday…
