Dalit Groom Wears Helmet To Save Himself At His Baraat As Upper Caste People Throw Stones

A Dalit groom’s baraat was stoned by upper caste villagers forcing him to wear a helmet to his wedding on Sunday in Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh.

The upper caste villagers argued that lower caste grooms are not allowed to ride a horse or take out a procession, and the grooms family to abide by these rules.

When Pawan Malviya, the groom, didn’t abide by their dictate they started throwing stones at the procession, causing him to wear a helmet and seek police protection for the fear of further attack.

Pawan told the reporters,”They are not allowing to take out the procession and threatening everybody forcing them to leave. They said they would not allow us to do anything here.”.
