7 Lakh For One Meal, Commentator Aakash Chopra’s Tweet Leaves Twitter In A Haze

We’ve all heard those famous nostalgic stories about the ‘good old days’ from our elders. The one where they had to walk miles to school and when 1 single rupee could practically buy a household’s entire month worth of groceries. While, as kids, we may have rolled our eyes at their reminiscing, as an adult you catch yourself doing the same thing. Especially if you’re someone who constantly struggles to adult and is not enjoying being responsible for your own bills.

If you’re anything like me, by the end of the month you’ve found yourself wishing you could time travel to that magical time when that last ₹10 note you found in your jeans pocket would’ve been enough to keep you alive till the next pay day.

Now imagine, if you went out for dinner, looked down at the bill and saw an amount of 7 lakh for some chollay and paneer.

Even the thought makes my Indian brain go “naaahhhiiiiii…..”

But what would’ve been you and I’s worst nightmare, actually did happen to cricket commentator Aakash Chopra.

Aakash recently shared a pic of the bill he received after a meal and the first glance at it made my lunch evaporate in my tummy.

90000 for chollay, 99000 for paneer butter and 96000 for paneer tikka! What atrociousness is this, right?!

But here’s the catch. The amount is not specified in Indian rupees. Rather the bill is for 699,930 Indonesian rupiahs.
