Remember the time when we used to get “wanna fraandship” messages on Facebook? Now it’s our Instagram DMs that bear the brunt of unsolicited texts. But here is something that’s not just creepy but very, very frightening.
Lynda Lorraine is a 20-year-old student living in England. Last week, she met a guy while travelling on a train. They were strangers who spoke briefly about the weather. Pretty normal, right? But what happened next was anything but. The stranger texted her out of nowhere. The reason for concern is that Lynda never shared her number with him!
She narrated the entire incident on Twitter
So I briefly spoke to someone on the train last week, we didn’t even exchange socials or anything and today he messaged me😭
Am I overreacting by being creeped out because what on earth 🙆🏾♀️ pic.twitter.com/SCVdZjHsg1— Indlovukazi (@Lyndahx) January 13, 2019
Apparently, he got her number from a ‘friend’ and would tell her which one ONLY if she went out with him.
He wouldn’t take NO for an answer. Also, got irritated when she called him out for his alarming behaviour.
Netizens assured Lynda that she was not overreacting. Some even urged her to inform the police. Have a look.

The threat is real
On paper it's a romcom plot. IRL, it's how you end up on Investigation Discovery.

2. Solid advice
Absolutely tell the police. 1) They may already have stuff on the guy. 2) They may have more safety tips. 3) your home might be included in patrols. 4) it creates a history in case more stuff happens. 5) there might be an actual crime in here that would get their attention.

3. That makes it scarier actually
He said “ days to get your number “ as if you should be impressed and thankful by that work ethic

4. YESS
Sis, WHOEVER GAVE HIM YOUR NUMBER NEEDS TO BE CUT OFF.

5. Agreed
If he didnt get your number in person he shouldn’t have your number, period

Lynda has blocked his number and decided not to go to the authorities. Unless he further harasses her. She still hasn’t found the ‘friend’ who allegedly gave out her number. But it does make one wonder, are our friends really putting our privacy at risk? When it comes to social media, how much of our personal lives are we sharing? And with whom?
