72-year-old Alfonso Ardila, who works as construction laborer too found it difficult to manage money to pay the rent amid the lockdown. He also suffered from some head injuries and decided to move to a shelter home, reports NYTimes.

Alfonso met 39-year-old Maria at the shelter home and the couple eventually fell in love with each other. “I came to this place where nobody looked at me or greeted me but here I found someone who loved me and worried about me,” he said.

“I have my medication and now I’m reducing my intake. They are blessings, very beautiful blessings,” he added.

Alfonso tied the knot with Maria at the shelter home in a traditional wedding organized by the staff and their friends. “They told me the ceremony would start at 4 p.m. and I should be there at 3 p.m. to get ready and all that, at noon I still couldn’t believe it because it was my husband who arranged everything,” Maria said.

“I was a little scared – even though I was dressing and everything I still didn’t believe it,” she added.

Maria wore a white gown for her wedding with her bridesmaid wearing purple dresses and green masks. The couple has shifted together in the same tent at the shelter camp now.

“We’ll leave here without work, we don’t know what will happen with the shelter. To leave here without knowing is scary, but God will provide,” said Alfonso. “We’re waiting for the moment when we can have a happy honeymoon,” he added.

We wish a very happy married life to the couple!
