“I Am Used To Big Cars.” Karnataka Leader Asks For A Fortuner After Getting A ‘Small’ Innova

Indian politicians have grabbed a lot of media attention in recent times, not for their selfless service towards the public but for their outrageous statements. Remember the time when Tripura Chief Minister, Biplab Deb, shocked the world claiming that internet existed during the time of Mahabharata? And we bet, the incident of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister, Dinesh Sharma explaining why Sita was a ‘test tube baby’ is still fresh in your minds.

And here we have another minister joining the party with not a statement but demand of his.

According to Deccan Chronicle, Karnataka Congress leader and Food and Civil Supplies Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan has turned down a Toyota Innova allotted to him and has asked for a Fortuner instead.

“I am used to travelling in a big car since childhood. The Toyota Innova car given by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms (DPAR) is a small one. It will be good if I can get the Toyota Fortuner that Siddaramaiah (former chief minister) was using.”

Explaining his demand, Zameer Ahmed, who owns a fleet of 100 luxury buses, stated that he needs a bigger car as he is “used to it”.

Adding to his statement, Zameer added that he wants to be recognized in the city as a minister and a Fortuner will perfectly serve his purpose.

“People have to recognise us as ministers. If I go by a normal car, will people recognise me? If I go by minister’s (government) car, they will say look the minister is going.”

However, when asked about why he wished for a government-owned vehicle when Chief Minister Kumaraswamy uses his personal Range Rover for official purposes, Ahmed compared the position of the two.

“Chief Minister Kumaraswamy…everyone knows him. He needs no introduction…He is so popular. I’m just a minister. I too have a wish. It is rare to get this opportunity.”

Now that’s one hell of a demand. We will just let you be the judge of that.
