Cartoonist Satish Acharya Alleged That Congress Forced Him To Take One Of His Cartoons Down

Censorship in India has become the hot topic recently, thanks to Udta Punjab showing the prevailing well-documented drugs problem. But, that’s not the only thing that has faced the heat of the censorship.

Apparently, the famous cartoonist, Satish Acharya whose cartoons tickle a lot of funny bones with his witty cartoons, was subjected to another level of censorship by Congress apparently. The cartoonist alleges that he was ‘forced’ to remove one of his cartoons.

Congress party’s image and fame have been spiraling down over the years. Playing to those tunes, Satish Acharya drew a cartoon targeting Congress CM of Karnataka Siddaramaiah and Rahul Gandhi.

Here’s his cartoon that drew flak:

Apparently, this didn’t go down well with the Congress. Instead of taking it in good humor, the party’s sentiments got hurt. The cartoonist alleged that he was told to remove his cartoon owing to that.

To showcase the veracity of this incident, he even tweeted this:

As if this wasn’t enough, he had to face the wrath of the Karnataka municipality who preached him about ‘No Flex’ rules and asked him to remove the cartoon from the building hoardings.

Here’s his facebook post where he went vocal about this problem and hinted at the party’s ‘hypocrisy’:

On the other hand, the Karnataka Congress president Dr. G Parameshwara reacted to this by saying that he was not aware of any such development and Karnataka Municipality said that they have removed all the hoardings to beautify the town!

Well, wonder how Congress party reacts to this.

Until then, keep your cartoons coming, Satish Acharya!
