Company Rejects Employee’s Resignation Letter, Makes Them Employee Of The Year Instead

Sometimes it’s an overwhelming feeling to write a resignation letter to your company. But But when you are desperate to dump your old employer and excited to join a new company then just a 3-word resignation letter is also enough.

But, what if your employer doesn’t want to leave you and simply refuses to accept your resignation letter? Well, this is exactly what happened with this person.

Taking to Reddit, the user ‘u/WorthlessFloor7’ shared what followed after they submitted their resignation letter. In the anti-work subreddit, the employee shared the screengrab of the response they received when they sent their resignation letter.

“Tried to quit my job and they said no,” the user wrote. Rejecting the user’s application, the company said that they’re required to commit to the company for at least a year. So, the user can’t quit before June 2023.

Responding to the company, the user wrote to them that since the person is an ’employee at will’, they can terminate their employment upon giving a 4-week notice.

To this, the company responded that even though they’re correct in stating that they’re an ‘at-will employee’, their failure to leave the company before fulfilling their one-year commitment would make them ineligible to be rehired. Moreover, they would also not give them any letters of recommendation.

In this case, the most recent response the employee got from the company was three days ago. It was an email that announced the employee (eager to quit the company) as the employee of the year.
