Most of my life has been spent in strict all-girls Catholic educational institutes. This means that we were terrified of our Principal. We only spoke to her when necessary, tried never to grab attention when she was around and ran in the other direction when we spotted her in the corridor. During school and college fests, we would immediately be on our best behavior upon spotting the Principal. Asking them to come on stage and dance or even enjoy with the rest of the students was out of the question.
However, the principal of Delhi University’s Gargi College is completely different. Dr Sangeeta Bhatia, draped in a wonderful saree, was spotted dancing with students on the stage to ‘High Heels’ during the college’s annual cultural festival ‘Reverie’ that took place recently. According to NDTV, this happened during a fashion show where both teachers and students participated.
