I know a person who is so obsessed with Strawberries that she would try anything and everything that has the fruit in it. I remember joking with her once, ‘You might as well name your child ‘Strawberry’.’
While I was definitely kidding, a restaurant owner took over the internet after she joked that a UK couple called their newborn daughter ‘Pakora’ as they love the desi snack.

According to a report by Times Now, the couple frequented a restaurant named ‘The Captian’s Table’ in Ireland, and apparently, they were in love with its famous dish ‘Pakora’ – spiced fritters. Hence, they thought it was a good idea to name their daughter after it.
Taking to Facebook, the restaurant shared the picture of the couple’s bill along with a picture of baby ‘Pakora’. It wrote:
“Now that IS a first! Welcome to the world Pakora 🥰 We can’t wait to meet you.”

We were appalled by this head-scratching news and hence, decided to dig deep in the ‘batter’ to see if the couple officially named the baby ‘Pakora’ or not.
But, thankfully, it was in good humor. India Today reports that the owner of ‘The Captain’s Table’ clarified that the entire thing was a joke. Apparently, she made up the story to “bring a little cheer to the industry” and “brighten up people’s day”.
She also added that the baby in the picture is actually her granddaughter. “I just thought I would do a post – my two favorite things in the world are ‘chicken pakora’ and my baby granddaughter. I thought I would combine the two things for a bit of fun really.”
Well, even though a lot of publications got it wrong, the memes and jokes online have compensated for this gaffe.

I am relieved that it’s just a joke. Maybe they might nickname the kid ‘Pakoda’ but please, don’t do this to your child. Earlier, a couple in Manipur named their baby boy ‘Quarantino’ as he was born in a quarantine center. There’s also a man whose name is ‘Kovid Kapoor’.
Why parents, why?
