Lightsaber V/S Vibranium Shield, Captain America & Luke Skywalker Debate Which Is Stronger

There are two types of fans. One is the purist, who adhere to every single rule set by the fictional universe, well-versed in its lore and treat it like it’s religion. The other one is the pragmatist. These people love the product, are aware of its fictional nature and are flexible to any and every change. And since Marvel and Star Wars are two of the biggest franchises now, the latter must’ve dreamed of combining them. Well, your wait is over.

A die hard fan of both Marvel and Star Wars posted a question involving Captain America’s trusty shield and Luke Skywalker’s Lightsaber. However, as it was so difficult to answer, she decided to ask the Jedi Knight and Captain.

To be honest, that’s a very legitimate question. The Lightsaber has been touted as the most powerful object that can cut through anything in the Star Wars universe. On the other hand, Captain America’s shield has been said to be literally indestructible in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

This question started a debate among fans where they used the science of one fictional universe to trump another. However, Twitter stood still as Mark Hamill himself stepped up to give his opinions on the matter.

Mark Hamill has played Luke Skywalker 5 times on the big screen and numerous other times if you count the TV specials and video games. So, there’s no doubt that he’s the most knowledgeable regarding the ways of the Jedi and the Lightsaber. And as far as his answer goes, it’s in keeping with the logic of both the universes.

However, knowing that his shield’s integrity was in danger, Chris Evans jumped into the debate and ended it on a hilarious note.

Of course Captain America has Vibranium ninja stars now (thanks to Black Panther) because the shield is with Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark. And of course the Lightsaber is no match for Vibranium ninja stars.

No matter who wins, Captain or Luke, the fans were certainly enjoying this little banter. Here are their reactions:

1. Mark this day, fans.

2. That’s a possibility.

3. You’re not the only one.

If you’re a fan of either franchises or both, you’ll know how heartening it’s to see actors accept their characters and engage in their fan theories. In that way, even if their roles don’t show up on the big screen for the next few years, fans can feel they’ve always been around.
