Caught On Cam: Bengaluru Traffic Cop Throws Shoe At Bikers Riding Without Helmet

Traffic rules are not something that should be taken lightly. In recent times, many commendable actions have been taken by the traffic police of multiple states. Hyderabad Traffic Police department recently won praise for their initiative to arrest parents of underage drivers. However, we still see countless cases of traffic violation daily.

The most common one would be that of people driving without helmets on the road. In fact, it was only last week that a biker was trolled by the Hyderabad Traffic Police Twitter team for one such case.

While they chose to take a lighter approach to this matter, a cop from Bengaluru chose to throw his shoe at two bikers passing by without a helmet.

In a video uploaded by Youtuber Rishabh Chatterjee last week, two traffic police officials can be seen waiting by the side of the road. As they notice two bikers approaching without wearing helmets, one of them steps forward and takes off his shoe. He throws the shoe at the two men on the bike as they pass him.

Though the guys try to duck, the shoe hits one of them and bounces off. Watch the video here:

Luckily, the throw does not cause any lasting damage and the two men drive off relatively safe. The cop in question then proceeds to pick up his shoe and wear it.

According to the Deccan Chronicle, the incident took place on BEL Road and the constable who was attached to the Jalahalli traffic police station has since been suspended.

The video has given mixed reactions on social media. While many seem to approve of the way the traffic cop acted, some point out that the throw could’ve caused the bikers to lose control of the bike. This, in turn, would’ve resulted in an accident especially since there appears to be a school bus passing right next to the spot.

Even though the riders were in clear violation of the rules, the actions of the cop could have resulted in a major catastrophe if things had gone south. How can we expect civilians to follow traffic rules if the ones in charge themselves resort to such antics?
