When I was younger and my grandparents were alive, I saw first-hand what old-age romance looked like. For them, romance meant pulling each other’s legs, sharing jokes, watching films on the television, having every meal together, and sneaking in a few flirty moments in between. My grandpa used to poke my grandma when she was busy, annoying her. My grandma used to do the same when grandpa tried to sleep, annoying him as well.
I was reminded of them when I came across this adorable video of a Bengali elderly couple that was shared by an Instagram account called Kolkata Chitrography.
The elderly man pokes his wife with his walking stick, asks her for tea, and spreads water on his hair. His wife, on the other hand, scolds him lovingly and eventually combs his hair with her own hands.
“Why are you poking me?” the wife asks in Bengali.
“What to do? You are not speaking to me!” her husband responds.
“Can you give me tea?” he asks.
“No! Is this the time to have tea? If I serve you tea now, you won’t be able to have lunch,” she answers.
