3 YO Miraculously Survives 6-Storey Fall As Building Residents Catch Him With A Blanket

There’s no denying the fact that babies and toddlers are super cute. They see the world with their innocent eyes and are filled to the brim with curiosity. But sometimes, this curious nature of theirs invites a lot of accidents that can also cause serious injuries. There have been instances of babies falling onto train tracks (and miraculously surviving) and also being caught after plummeting down from highrises.

According to BBC News, on 29 July, a similar incident occurred in China’s Chongqing Municipality. At around 4 pm, a 3-year-old boy fell from a sixth storey balcony of a residential community in Jiulongpo District.

Thankfully, people at the scene spotted him dangling from the balcony, trying to pull himself up and acted immediately. A few residents and security guards held a thick blanket to break his fall and succeeded in their rescue effort. The toddler was taken to the hospital by a neighbour as his grandmother had left him to buy some groceries.

Here is the hair-raising video captured by passers-by.

USA Today quoted one of the rescuers Zhu Yanhui saying,

“I looked up and saw a little child was dangling up there. My first reaction was to find something to catch him. I thought about rushing over there and catching him with my bare hands, but that would not have worked.”

He further added,

“I looked at the blanket wondering whether we could catch him safely. My only thought was to keep him safe. I was there at the moment and helped hold out the blanket. Ten seconds later, the boy fell. It all happened so fast.”

We’re genuinely glad that the toddler is now safe and didn’t suffer any injuries.
