Auto Driver Takes Economics, Current Affairs Lessons To Help Daughter Prepare For UPSC

A mother’s love is visible. Through her hugs, head massages, food, bedtime stories, and 2546 missed calls, it is evident. A father’s love is more silent and private. It’s hidden in the sleepless nights waiting for the child to come back home or worrying about college fees, or even bringing home fresh vegetables on a Sunday morning for a massive lunch spread. It’s hidden in his blissful obliviousness during PTA meetings as the teacher continues with her complaints because he knows that his child will eventually win in life.

Similarly, one autorickshaw driver spends time learning about Economics and Current Affairs on YouTube to help his daughter prepare for UPSC. His story was shared by an Investment Banking Analyst named Abhijeet Mutha on LinkedIn.

“Yesterday night when I booked my Uber, Mr Rakesh came to pick me up. After the ride started I noticed that he paused his YouTube video and started navigation. After a while, he went back to the video and resumed from where he left. I could not resist myself from asking: Sir, what are you watching?”

The driver went on to reply, “Sir, this channel has content on Current Affairs and Economics.”

When Abhijeet asked him if he is planning to take any important exams, he replied, “No, my daughter is preparing for UPSC and we have a round of discussions on these topics once she is back from the library.”

While several people lauded the man for going the extra mile to help his daughter, some couldn’t help but feel concerned about him watching videos while driving. To these concerns, Abhijeet revealed that the driver only watched the videos after stopping at signals.

Appreciating his gesture, here’s what others said:

This makes me want to go and hug my dad right now! 🙂
