Australia To Kill 20 Lakh Stray Cats By 2020 By Air-Dropping Poisoned Sausages, Twitter Enraged

Cruelty towards animals has been a genuine issue since decades but has seen an alarming rise in the past few years. And now, when people in Australia have finally decided to defend some species facing the risk of extinction, what did they come up with?

For all of us to have a laugh at human intelligence, the Australian government has come up with a plan to kill another bunch of animals which are found in large numbers.

Yes, according to The Sun, the government has made a decision to kill two million feral cats by airdropping frozen, poisoned sausages. These sausages which are being produced by at a factory close to Perth are expected to kill the cats within 15 minutes of consuming the food.

The sausages are made with kangaroo meat, chicken fat, herbs, spices and the poison, 1080. The idea is to drop 50 sausages every kilometre in areas where the cats roam free.

The reason behind the same is that feral cats have been responsible for driving an estimated 20 mammal species to extinction. Though they belong to the category of domestic cats, they live in the wild and forced to kill for survival.

According to CNN, it is believed that cats in Australia kill more than 1 million native birds and 1.7 million reptiles across every day.

However, the decision has sparked massive outrage on Twitter with people slamming the move. They are also asking the government to come up with a better alternative for God’s sake!

While planning to save the endangered is a step we would love to applaud it cannot come at the cost of another species. It’s time to chalk out a better plan, Aussies!
