Asha Bhosle Questions Reality Shows Focusing On “Fashion Quotient” Instead Of Singing Talent

Many celebrities like Vidya Balan, Malaika Arora, and Ankita Lokhande have previously opened up and shared the journey of their careers before they climbed the rope of success in Bollywood. Veteran singer Asha Bhosle, who is respected for her beautiful voice and effortless talent all over the globe, also took a trip down the memory lane. Moreover, she sought to give some sound advice to all the aspiring singers in today’s day and age.

In an interview with Mid-Day, Bhosle questioned the glamorization of singers in reality shows. She displayed concern over how it could affect artists doing justice to their craft. Having witnessed this development over the past few years, she asked, “While singing at reality shows, attention is paid to the fashion quotient, and dance. Dancing and singing have no connection with each other, then why make a singer dance? It affects the breathing, and hence a person’s ability to sing.”

Bhosle has spanned several decades as a singer since the year 1943. The 87-year old music legend has seen the growth of not only Bollywood but also the Indian music industry at large. She reminisced, “We spent our life in a saree and two braids, and made a career singing songs.”

The legendary singer left a word of advice to aspiring singers who hope to make it in the cinematic music industry. She asked them to focus on their performance and craft instead of being swayed by the glitz and glamour of the industry. “I encouraged aspirants to not focus on the hairdo or clothes, and merely stand and render a track,” she stated.
