Today, we all know Malaika Arora as a talented Bollywood actor, a fitness enthusiast, an entrepreneur and a mom. But all this didn’t come to her very easily. Like the many newcomers in the industry, the sexy diva also had to go through a number of auditions before she made her debut on screen.
Rejections and failure also came her way on her journey to becoming the heartthrob of the Indian film industry decades later. The ‘Kaante’ actor in an interview recently opened about her early days and how she faced rejection.
A report by News18 quoted her saying, “I remember going for many auditions and my mother used to accompany me. When I started off, I faced many rejections but that never let me down. I never gave up and kept trying. I was 17 years old when I started with my modelling career and from then one thing led to another and today, I am in the position to judge a show,” she said.
And like many of us, it wasn’t a cakewalk for the 46-year-old actor.
“It was not easy. I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I was 15-16 years old and today kids who come for auditions are so clear with what they want to do.”
Remembering her dancing days, she said, “I was in my teens when I met Terence (Lewis) about 20 years ago and I was learning dance in his academy and today I am judging a show with him,” she added.
The actor who rose to stardom after the 1998 song ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ from ‘Dil Se’ is also seen hosting and judging popular shows like ‘Nach Baliye’, ‘India’s Got Talent’, ‘India’s Next Top Model’, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’, ‘MTV Supermodel of the Year’ among others.
