AP Dhillon, Mika Singh On The Scary Reality Of The Punjabi Industry Post Moose Wala’s Death

The tragic death of famous Punjabi singer-rapper turned politician Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu AKA Sidhu Moose Wala raised a lot of eyebrows over the security of entertainers and artists in Punjab. Moose Wala was shot dead in broad daylight after the state government reduced his security.

It took the demise of Moose Wala for Punjabi-Canadian rapper AP Dhillon (Amritpal Singh Dhillon) to finally open up about threats and hate that Punjabi artists have to deal with regularly.

Taking to his Instagram stories, the ‘Brown Munde’ singer condoned the death of Moose Wala. In another story, he spoke about the hate-filled comments, threats, and negativity that are directed toward Punjabi artists.

He wrote:

“Most people will never know the extent of what you have to deal with as a Punjabi artist behind the scenes on a daily basis. With constant judgment, hate-filled comments, threats, and negative energy directed towards people like us, who are just doing what we love to do. I always admired how Sidhu was able to rise above it all. He made it look easy and stayed true to himself. Today I am praying for his family and our community. We need to do better. RIP Sidhu Moose Wala.”

It’s not just Dhillon, even ace singer Mika Singh spoke about this dark side of the industry. He also added that Sidhu had told him about receiving death threats three years ago. “Singers in Punjab often get such threats from gangsters,” The Indian Express quoted him saying.

“I remember Parmish Verma, Gippy Grewal, even Sidhu told me three years ago that he has been receiving such threats. Many singers give money and save themselves. Budding singers get such threats. They know they do so many shows and earn well.”

Mika divulged, “He was no goon. He was not the kind of person who would drink and disturb people. He was just a singer who made a name for himself with his songs. So, if this can happen to such a nice boy and celebrity, that too without any fear of punishment, ye toh poora jaanwar vaala tareeka hai,” Mika added.

According to reports, a Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar has taken the responsibility for Moose Wala’s murder. Punjab is not alien to gun violence among other menaces. The cold-blooded shooting of a well-known personality raises questions about the safety of the general public.
