“Film People Are Portrayed As Stupid But That’s Not True,” Says Anushka In A Candid Interview

Anushka Sharma has been winning hearts since the time she has graced the big screen. She is charming, beautiful and has an enigmatic personality.

In a candid interview with the Elle Magazine, she spoke about her career, her love life, and her past.

Anushka Sharma was only 15 years old when she got into modeling. It is impossible for someone who is so young and hasn’t seen the world at all, to be able to face critics at that point in time. 

She accepts that it bothered her while she was trying to learn about her new work, and was trying really to fit in. She adds,

“Once I began to understand what was making me anxious, I wasn’t anxious anymore.”

 

Anushka was inspired by Imtiaz Ali’s ‘Jab We Met’ to take the leap from modeling to acting. At that time, to receive an offer from the award-winning director was just a dream for her. But when Imtiaz came around for Tamasha, Anushka rejected the movie.  

“Film people are portrayed as very petty and stupid, but it’s not true.”

Anushka says that she doesn’t lie about her reasons for not doing the film. In Tamasha’s script she felt that a woman’s lead was unnecessary, because the story revolved around Ranbir Kapoor’s role.

 

Anushka Sharma is fearless and speaks her mind. She says that women not only in Bollywood but in every field are not expected to have an opinion of their own.

“It’s like being in a room where the adults are talking. And if you speak your mind, everybody turns to look at you in surprise.”

 

Anushka Sharma has been in an on and off relationship with Virat Kohli, but she has never went on record about it. And yet again, it was off the table for discussion. 

All she would ever talk about is her pet labrador Dude. She says, “I’m exactly the kind of pet parent who’s just looking for an excuse to show you pictures of my dog.”

 

She has come a really long way. Romancing with Khans multiple times, she has done justice to a great number of roles. Hailing from a middle-class family, a lot of young women aspire to be like her. Her advice to them is to accept themselves, their flaws and imperfections. 

Anushka Sharma is a brave, intelligent young woman changing the way Bollywood actresses are percieved.
