Anurag Basu FINALLY Responds To Rishi Kapoor Calling Him An ‘Irresponsible Director’

Jagga Jasoos has been in the news, unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. It started with Govinda taking to Twitter to express his anger after being ousted from the film. Veteran actor, Rishi Kapoor also lashed out at Anurag Basu and held him responsible for the film’s failure.

Rishi Kapoor was also upset that an actor of Govinda’s calibre was cut off from the film without informing the actor. Overwhelmed with Rishi Kapoor’s support, yesterday Govinda in an interview thanked the senior Kapoor for this.

Not wanting to add more fuel to the fire, Anurag has maintained a dignified silence, until now.

In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Anurag Basu has finally reacted to Rishi Kapoor’s comments about him and the director said,

“I want to avoid making any comments against a senior who also happens to be my friend’s dad.

While Anurag had nothing more to add to the matter, Jagga Jasoos’s co-producer, Bimal Parekh said that everyone was entitled to their opinion but he was proud to be associated with a film like Jagga Jasoos.

“What Mr  Kapoor has to say about Anurag Basu is his opinion. He is entitled to it. We’ve received extremely polarised views on Jagga  Jasoos. Many have loved it, but just as many have hated it. I don’t know how much losses the film will run into, but I am proud to be associated with it.”

In the same report, a source from the cast claims that Rishi Kapoor had been ranting against Anurag  Basu since a long time. The source further added that Rishi Kapoor would not be singing the same tune if the film was a success.

“We knew it was coming. Rishi Kapoor had been ranting against Anurag to anyone who was remotely connected with Jagga Jasoos. He had even threatened to beat up Anurag if he ever showed his face to him. He thinks today Anurag is an ‘irresponsible director’. I am sure he would have seemed like a responsible director had Jagga Jasoos been a hit.”

Talking about how Anurag Basu didn’t show his film before is not new, let’s not forget that even Sanjay Leela Bhansali didn’t show a single frame of ‘Saawariya’ to Ranbir or any one else.

“Recently, Rishi was venting against Shakun Batra for his working style in Kapoor & Sons. But the minute the audience accepted the film Rishi changed his tune. Sadly, Rishi has also brought in Ekta Kapoor, Rakesh Roshan and Govinda to argue his case against Anurag.”

Reports also suggest that Ranbir is rather upset with his father for lambasting Anurag Basu in the media. With various articles claiming this piece of news to be true, looks like Rishi Kapoor’s interview has done more damage to the situation than controlling it.  According to a report in Bollywood Life, a source alleged that,

“Ranbir was not wanting another controversy and not when the film has failed to perform at the box office. His father’s comments will only bring more focus on the film’s failure. This episode might cause more damage to their already strained relationship.”

The drama around Jagga Jasoos refuses to die down. But with Anurag finally reacting to the situation, we hope that this is the last we hear of it!
