There’s something about being desi that just can’t be beat. Sure, we are relatively underdeveloped as compared to the western nations, but there’s a certain charm in our air. The essence of our spiciness, both in terms of our food and personalities, is something that is signature to only us. And it’s not just because we are born here. Many foreigners have been lured by this very same charm and have never been the same after.
This mystical nature which is characteristic to both India and Pakistan (we were after all one, not so long ago), leaves its mark on anyone who sticks around long enough. And one American gentleman is living proof of this.
A recent video uploaded by the Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago shows a Caucasian man speaking in fluent Punjabi.
The man flawlessly speaks in Punjabi without even a hint of an accent. “I was in India for a total of 32 years,” says the man, adding that he was born and brought up there. He did visit the US in between he says.
He also spent almost 6 years in Lahore after the India-Pak partition, to which he attributes his Lahori Punjabi. He came to Pune after that for his college.
He maps out his life across India and Pakistan in brilliant Punjabi and honestly, it’s the best thing I’ve seen today. Watch:
