You remember Gold Spot, don’t you?
If you were born anywhere between the 60s and the 90s, this fizzy orange soft drink was a huge part of your social life! Today’s Fanta and Mirinda drinking kids will probably not understand the allure of Gold Spot!
Launched in India by Parle Bisleri, along with Limca and ThumsUp, Gold Spot was everyone’s favourite. Though discontinued somewhere in 2000, the drink continues to bubble up nostalgia everytime it is mentioned! In fact, if you live in Mumbai and happen to pass by the old Gold Spot factory in Parle West, you’re bound to be reminded of The Zing Thing (it’s tagline)!
In case you’re wondering why we’re suddenly thinking about Gold Spot today, it’s not us! You can blame this wave of nostalgia on Abhishek Bachchan, who tweeted a picture of the old Gold Spot factory!
Childhood happy place!
Who remembers this?

So rightly captioned, AB Jr.! It was indeed a childhood happy place. Not just because it manufactured your favourite drink but also because schools often organised field trips and picnics to the factory for the kids! And it was quite the thrill!
With this one tweet, Bachchan managed to drown all of Twitter in Gold Spot’s fizzy orange nostalgia!
Super! Remember waiting in anticipation at least 5 minutes before the car crossed the building. And then shouting in chorus..
Go….old Spot!!— Ambrish Agarwal (@ambrish_agarwal) November 19, 2018
Even his own industry peers couldn’t help but reminisce about their favourite childhoor memories about Gold Spot!
My favourite drink!!!! Ever!!!! https://t.co/rO0VTNEI4Y

Someone just had to mention about that insane trend of collecting cold drink bottle crowns and exchanging them for cool things!
Do you remember peeling crowns for getting the stickers and winning prizes !! I had won a jungle book flicker book and a bat signed by Sunil gavaskar and a miniature ball signed by kapildev !! Nostalgia !!@karanjohar

We now know Hichki director Siddharth Malhotra definitely had at least one school trip to the Gold Spot factory!
This is the only factory I remember being in getting super fascinated seeing those bottles being made and then having it with my entire school….

Our school picnics would usually be GoldSpot or Aarey Milk Colony….n shamelessly each year I would wait to go to both places

Let me follow the trend and say, “If you remember playing the ‘Gold Spot’ game with your friends, then your childhood was awesome!”
We even played a fun game called gold spot. Where you tried and jumped on the other legs and got them out 🤓

We’re against bribing, unless there’s some Gold Spot involved!

Kunal Kohli basically snatching the words right out of our mouths!
Ah the gold spot factory on the highway. That bottle seemed larger when we were kids. Wish they’d make gold spot again. Loved it.
