Bravery isn’t restricted by age, and this fact was established by a 65-year old man, who beat down an armed assailant as he stormed inside a mosque with ulterior motives.
The incident transpired in the Al-Noor Islamic Centre in Baerum, Norway, on the holy occasion of Eid-al-Adha, when a 21-year old local, white man broke into the mosque with weapons to attempt a mass-shooting. Nothing indicates that there have been more people involved, as the man seemed to be operating alone.
Among the people present in the mosque was a 65-year old Mohamed Rafiq who stopped the assailant in his ways, fought him off and pinned him down until police arrived. Rafiq was aided by another worshipper, Mohamed Iqbal, who was present at the time of the assault. Eyewitnesses revealed that the two held the shooter down despite being injured in the struggle.

Not all heroes wear capes, they sometimes wear turbans, surprising enough.

The police officials reportedly gave statement on the arrest of Philip Manshaus saying, “we’re investigating this as an attempt at carrying out an act of terrorism.” The man is also suspected of killing his 17-year old step-sister whose body was found at her house during the investigation after the incident at the mosque. Manshaus is in custody and is undergoing psychiatric assessment.
