The best thing about being in school is that you are far, far away from applying for a job! Because once you are of age, its the same old story of sending out your resume, waiting for calls/emails, going for interviews, and repeat the same cycle till you land a decent job.
However, one teenager from Australia couldn’t wait till he graduated from school. In fact, he bunked the entire old-school process of resumes and interviews, and “applied” for a job in his own weird way – by hacking into the systems of his dream company.
According to sources, a 17-year-old techie got arrested after he hacked into Apple Inc.’s system twice, downloading internal documents and data, hoping the officials would get impressed and offer him a job.
He used his technical expertise in information technology to create false digital credentials which tricked Apple’s server into thinking he was a company employee.
Reports revealed that the boy was inspired by a similar case in Europe wherein the hacker ultimately got hired by the company.
“He had no idea about the seriousness of the offence and hoped that when it was discovered that he might gain employment at this company”, said his lawyer. While Apple Inc. didn’t suffer any financial loss from the hack, the boy now faces multiple hacking charges.
While the lawyer tried to fight his case in court claiming that the boy is clearly gifted and wanted to use his talents for good, the judge pointed out that being gifted doesn’t give him the right to abuse that gift.
However, Apple later responded to the case and said, “Our teams discovered the unauthorized access, contained it, and reported the incident to law enforcement. We regard the data security of our users as one of our greatest responsibilities and want to assure our customers that at no point during this incident was their personal data compromised.”
