Watch 1500 Drunk Strangers Sing Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way”

If two’s company and three’s a crowd, then what is 1500?
It is MASSIVE!
And to gather this many inebriated strangers and make them sing together in unison? I would’ve thought it was near impossible. But the good folks over at Pub Choir made it happen.

On January 30th, 2019, a group of 1500 people came to The Tivoli in Brisbane, Australia. They learnt the song ‘I Want It That Way’ by Backstreet Boys in a 3 part harmony in 90 minutes. And the outcome was amazing.

Here’s the full performance

I’m no music expert but that was pretty epic. Alcohol generally causes a lot of stumbling, fumbling and slurring of words. What with the lack of coordination it brings about. But these guys seem to be in perfect sync.

Even Kevin Richardson (member of the Backstreet Boys) approves

But what exactly is Pub Choir?

Based in Brisbane, Pub Choir believes that ‘Everybody can sing’. And they prove it by organising a community singing experience at least once a month. This is how it works – A date, place and song are announced. People who are interested can buy tickets, learn the song right there at the venue and then perform it.

If you’re thinking that you’re no musical maestro and this isn’t for you, think again. Pub Choir says,

“Singing feels great. This is a judgement free zone. Our rehearsals are relaxed and supportive. And rowdy. There’s no way you’re going to be heard over hundreds of other drunk people. Good luck with THAT.”

No arguments here. Also, someone please ask these people to come to India next. We can belt out a Bollywood number.
