Shobhaa De, apart from her cocky and chic-less columns, is (in)famous for her Twitter spats with the who’s who of the news world. You name it, and she probably has had hate exchanged in the form of 140 characters. Remember the time when she insulted Indian team for Rio Olympics? Or the time she took a dig at Sushma Swaraj? If I may, De is the female ‘KRK‘, only with better word-framing capacity.
Well, she has done it again, to say the least, and it only makes me wonder, WHY?! And you won’t believe who she dissed this time.
While Mumbai was busy voting, Shobhaa De took the opportunity to body shame/mock the Mumbai Police to prove she is punny.
Heavy police bandobast in Mumbai today! pic.twitter.com/sY0H3xzXl3

Or so she thought.
Mumbai Police, however, wasted no time in showing the author, her place with an apt response.
We love puns too Ms De but this one is totally imisplaced. Uniform/official not ours. We expect better from responsible citizens like you. https://t.co/OcKOoHO5bX

And that’s not it.
Twitterati couldn’t stop singing praises and congratulated Mumbai Police for their perfect reply.
1. That sounds chargeable!
.@MumbaiPolice you can forgive her for not being a responsible citizen but you should charge her for Copying others Tweet. pic.twitter.com/PjNUI1z5pA

2. About time, y’all. About time.
Kudos @MumbaiPolice for standing up for dignity!
Seems celebs look out for their own image but put down ors.

4. WORD
.@DeShobhaa if body shaming is worthy of condemnation for women, men deserve the same. Gender equality needs advocates, not your puns😬👺

9. This one needs a guidebook for sarcasm, though.
.@MumbaiPolice Sir/Ma'am if you think she is a responsible citizen, the joke is on you 🙂 pic.twitter.com/yMCbwQZ16E

Then there was THIS.

I don’t think there is the need to say anything further. But really, do we not learn from our past mistakes anymore?
Update:
After all the backlash, the author, in her attempt of redemption, has tweeted out a piece of advice to the Madhya Pradesh Police after she realised the cop in the picture is from M.P.
Mumbai/Maharashtra Police, pranaam. No offence intended. M.P. police, consult a dietician,if it's an asli ,undoctored image doing the rounds
— Shobhaa De (@DeShobhaa) February 22, 2017
Did you expect an apology?
