Mumbai Police Shares Some Disturbing Moments About The Shakti Mills Rape Case

Shakti Mills Rape case refers to the incident in which a 22-year-old photojournalist, who was interning with an English-language magazine in Mumbai, was gang-raped by five persons, including a juvenile, when she had gone to the Shakti Mills compound in South Mumbai, with a male colleague on an assignment dated 22 August 2013. The accused had tied up the victim’s colleague with belts and raped her. The accused took photos of the victim during the sexual assault and threatened to release them to social networks if she reported the rape.

Mumbai Police had a tough job to do. Not because they were police, but because this incident had shaken them to the core. In this video by Vibha Bakshi, Mumbai Police speak out about that incident. The ordeal was tough, but they never gave up. They also speak about the condition of the victim, who despite being traumatized, never lost faith.

Maharashtra became the first state in India to give a death penalty to the accused.
