MP Couple Is Giving Up Their 3 YO Daughter And 100-Crore Property To Become Jain Monks

It is better to win over self than to win over a million enemies – Lord Mahavir.

And it takes a lot of efforts to win over self. The path to self-actualization is tough, but they say once you attain it, nothing in the world defines that happiness then.

Following a similar path, a Jain couple in Madhya Pradesh has decided to leave behind their 3-year-old daughter and 100 crore property and to become monks. Sumit Rathore, 35 and wife Anamika, 34 have planned to take deeksha on 23rd of this month at Surat.

The couple originally hails from Neemuch, a small town near Bhopal. Their families also happen to have an established and reputed business and also come from a political background.

Sumit broke the final word first at a community gathering held at Surat during August. The Acharya present there then asked Sumit to seek permission from his wife. Anamika not only gave the consent but also expressed her wish to join.

As for their 3-year-old daughter, Ibhiya, she will be raised by her grandparents. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Ashok Chandilya (Anamika’s father), who was very supportive of their decision said,

“we also had no counter to their religious arguments and relented. One cannot stop anyone when religion calls.”

Sumit’s parents have also been equally supportive. They knew Sumit would go down this road of tranquility but they did not expect it to be so soon.

But not everybody in the family has been reassuring for the two. Sumit’s close cousin, Sandeep was completely stunned after hearing his brother’s decision.

“He had everything that a man wanted. Property worth around Rs 100 crore, a loving wife and a daughter. But he chose to renounce everything. We are stunned.”

We hope the couple is successful in the tough path they have chosen and find their happiness and contentment in monkhood.
