This Version Of ‘Mere Saamnewali Khidki Mein’ Tells How Pakistan Is Just Like India

What creates division? The fact that you think that the other person is different from you in some way makes you believe that there is a need for bifurcation. The means of division can range from religion to difference in opinion, but is all that hassle really worth it?

India and Pakistan became two separate countries on 14th August, 68 years ago. Since then, we have been told that they are not like us. But, is it really true? People are suffering in both the countries and if you think deeply, there is one common string that binds us all together.

Indian Ocean vocalist Rahul Ram, has the answer in a form of a beautiful melody called, ‘Mere Saamnewali Sarhad Pe’. The lyrics are given by stand-up artist & lyricist Varun Grover & satirist Sanjay Rajoura in Aisi Taisi Democracy. This video by Being Indian tells us how both these countries face everything similar, from exploitation to celebration. Then how are we any different?
