I don’t think I need to remind you about the scary tales and horrific accounts of women who have faced harassment at the hands of their cab and taxi drivers. As unfortunate as it sounds, I’m sure many of you girls have not only heard/read but experienced the ordeal first hand. I know I have.

But you know what the worst part is? It doesn’t end at that. Women are being subjected to unspeakable atrocities like rape and murder, as we speak and it’s dismaying that we are still discussing, debating the grave benchmarks the earlier ones have left.

Yes, law-makers are rattling and struggling to make amendments that give way to stricter punishments but do we have to wait for the tragedy to strike before we take action? NO.

Believe it or not ladies, our safety is in our hands!

After several incidents and indictments where woman have been molested in child-locked cars, Faye D’Souza has finally shown us a way to unlock it and it’s definitely a step forward.

Citing the gruesome 2009 gang-rape and murder of Pune techie, Nayana Pujari who worked at an IT firm and was kidnapped when she was waiting for a ride at the Kharadi bypass, Faye makes a strong case urging women to ensure that the child-lock is off when getting inside any unknown vehicle, cab or taxi.

She further demonstrated how women should take the precautionary measure before getting a ride.

Not just that, in an appeal, she has also requested taxi service-givers and aggregators to put child lock stickers on a cab, reminding women to ensure their safety by their own hands.

In fact, she has also requested the state government and administrative bodies to remove the child-lock facilities from standard cars that are being used commercially.

Faye D'Souza shows you how you should check if the child lock…

A 23-year-old woman found herself child-locked inside an Ola cab while travelling alone, through #Bengaluru. The driver allegedly child locked the car and then groped the woman by reaching back from the front seat. All taxi aggregators are supposed to put child lock stickers on a cab. Faye D'Souza shows you how you should check if the child lock is activated in a cab. #NoSafetyForBeti
