These Vintage Cocaine Advertisements From 1970s Are Very Unsettling

Have you heard of surrogate advertising? It is the kind of advertising which is used to promote banned products in a disguise of another product. Hence, products like cigarettes and alcohol are sold under the banner of music CDs, drinking water etc. But, there was a time when these products were not banned and were sold explicitly. And when we watch those vintage advertisements today, it feels unsettling to see companies glorifying tobacco and alcohol.

But, what if I tell you that even cocaine was sold openly when it was not banned. Back 1n 1970s, in the United States of America, cocaine was ruling the population and advertisers took full advantage of it.

So, we present to you, the cocaine ads for powder and paraphernalia that ran from ’76 to ’81 (yes, not THAT long ago). It will make you realise how much our world has changed.
