TV Tutorial Instructing Women On ‘How To Shop In A Sexy Way’, Sparks Outrage Online

Baggy tracks and a loose t-shirt! Isn’t this the ultimate combo that many of us wear while shopping? Well, even though dressing up or down is a personal preference, women are sometimes judged for their choice of clothing.

Speaking of which, an Italian tutorial aired on public television gave women tips on how to look ‘sexy’ while shopping. The guide was transmitted during a programme called ‘Detto Fatto’ and sparked outrage in Italy, reports The Guardian. The segment featured ballerina and pole dance teacher Emily Angelillo showing women how they can look sensual while in the supermarket.

Dressed in leather mini-shorts and high heels, Emily advised women to wear heels while shopping. Other tips included how to walk in an attractive way while pushing a shopping cart and how to reach for items on a high shelf while raising the leg in a flattering angle.

She even demonstrated how to pick a product up from the floor in a “non-vulgar” way. Many people were upset with the bizarre video and pointed out that it aired on the eve of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

Many viewers were shocked to see the female being stereotyped in the segment on public television. According to the Daily Mail, an investigation will soon be launched in the matter. Eventually, Emily issued an apology saying she was “sorry for all the women who felt insulted”.

The broadcaster’s director Ludovico Di Meo also apologized saying, ‘The program yesterday ran into a very serious mistake, certainly not wanted, for which I apologize to the viewers.”

It’s disheartening to see women being demeaned like this. What do you think about this bizarre incident? Tell us.
