Women Online Share Their Honest Thoughts On Surrogacy & Whether They Would Choose To Do It

Social media erupted with unsolicited opinions when Priyanka Chopra announced the arrival of her newborn via surrogacy. All of a sudden there was this debate about surrogacy and whether it is ethical or not. For the unversed, surrogacy is an arrangement in which a woman agrees to bear a child for another person/couple. It is often supported by a legal agreement and a monetary transaction could be involved.

Hence, when a Reddit user asked women that if they had the money and wanted kids, would they be interested in opting for surrogacy, many responded.

Several women took to the comment section to say no to surrogacy. Many believed that the practise was “unethical” and compared it to “human trafficking”.

Some also said that the practice is used by rich people and is exploitative to the poor. The women even claimed that they would rather adopt.

The idea of another woman giving up her baby was disturbing for some.

However, there were also people who said yes to surrogacy but with conditions – like if all the parties have consented to the arrangement and special compensation is given to the surrogate.
