The entire idea of a honeymoon exists so that newlywed couples can spend time together immediately after their wedding, away from their families. In this time, they are supposed to have back-to-back moments of physical intimacy, romance and deep conversations and honeymoon plays a huge role in helping them develop a strong bond. So the location of the honeymoon is of immense importance. It’s supposed to make a person relaxed and ‘in the mood’ (if you know what I mean). So usually couples choose locations near the beach, the mountains, or a tourist spot that reeks of romance.
However, a woman in Bhopal sought divorce from her husband after he took her to Varanasi and Ayodhya for their honeymoon after he promised he would take her to Goa, reported Moneycontrol.
The husband works for an IT firm and earns well, as revealed by the wife who also draws a decent salary from her job. She initially wanted to go abroad for their honeymoon, but the husband denied saying that he had to look after his parents and they could go somewhere within India.
He promised a honeymoon in Goa and other locations in South India, to which the wife agreed. However, he secretly bought flight tickets to Ayodhya and Varanasi without informing her. A day before the trip, he informed her that they were going to Ayodhya for their honeymoon because his mother wanted to be there for the Ram Mandir consecration ceremony.
The woman didn’t say anything at the time and went on the trip. But after coming back from their honeymoon, she sought divorce from her husband. In her statement, she also mentioned that the husband takes care of his family more than her. They are currently receiving counselling.
