Woman Shares Heartbreaking Story Of Not Getting A Job In The UK Despite Foreign Degree

Ever since childhood, many of us had this dream of pursuing our education in a foreign institute and bagging a job in a country like the United Kingdom or the United States. Settling down in a different country fascinated us and books and movies furthered that dream. But not everything is as it seems in films.

A woman named Sreepranavi Samudrala, an architect who pursued a Master’s degree at the University of Edinburgh in the UK, recently took to LinkedIn to narrate her heartbreaking tale of not landing a job despite her foreign degree and applying to innumerable places.

“Shockingly, my master’s and bachelor’s degree, both aren’t enough to get a job in the UK! I graduated in Dec 2022. I was barely surviving, financially unstable, anxious and burnout. During all of this I was giving my 100%, even though there were unimaginable difficulties. And even after graduating successfully, things only became worse. Looking for a job as an international student (graduate) has been extremely heartbreaking. There has been no value for me, my degree, or capabilities. I have applied for more than 300+ jobs and got a handful of useful feedbacks,” she wrote.

She went on to reveal that on some days, she had to wait for months to hear back after giving an interview. She further urged employers to understand that “actual people” submit their applications and to take them more seriously.

“I feel as an international student, we go through a lot. Being away from family, taking care of ourselves, dealing with burnout and stress, all while doing a master’s degree. All this is not easy! We international students are talented, capable, and more than anything RESILIENT. Our determination to come back up and achieve things is impeccable. If you are someone who moved out from your home country and tried to figure it all out on your own, I have immense respect for you!” she added.

This is the reality behind foreign education that rarely anyone talks about. Everyone discusses getting admission into a foreign institute but no one really opens up about the aftermath.
