In this country, we see corrupt professors and people often disrespecting the profession that was once considered sacred. And this professor is changing the country by leaps and bounds.

Meet Alok Sagar, hailing from Delhi, who has a cauldron of achievements and degrees in his bag but chose to uplift the downtrodden sections of the society instead.

While continuing his successful stint as a professor, he decided to help the people, especially the downtrodden sections by uplifting them.

He has planted more than 50,000 trees and helped the tribals of Betul district by working in association with Shramik Adivasi Sangathan.

It has been three decades since he is continuing with this, unrecognised. Thanks to the Betul’s district elections, we know this professor and his excellent list of achievements.

The Betul district administrator couldn’t trace his background and started doubting him. Only when the background check was done, it was revealed he holds such prestigious degrees.

Anurag Modi, an activist who works with Sagar commented that Alok Sagar has set a glorious example of a social worker.

“In India, people are facing so many problems, but people are busy proving their intelligence by showing their degrees than serving people”, he said.

And last but not the least, the professor uses his bicycle to commute.

Well, all I can think is that this professor deserves the highest form of salute and reverence. 🙂
