The first time I had worked with Chef Ramsay was on Easter day in 2007. He had requested me to teach him some modern Indian dishes and I was excited to cook at his “Gordon Ramsay Restaurant” in New York. I asked him what time and he replied 3 a.m.
I am used to working 18 hours a day, so I was ok with the idea.
He walks in at 2.45 am and we worked until 7 am. I cooked about 11 dishes and I was amazed by his curiosity, meticulousness and passion. His love for Indian cuisine was totally evident. We did many times again.
Worked with him as a guest judge on Hell’s Kitchen Finale, Kitchen Nightmares and (MasterChef America and Great Escape) when they were being planned.
I have cooked for him many times and every time I get to learn so much.
It humbles me to be mentioned along with him in so many lists around the World. And yes, he is the most polite man in real life.

The world is a huge place, but respect, love and humbleness are not so hard to spot. Being modest is the first step that leads to success and Chef Vikas Khanna’s life story is a perfect example.
