Vidya Balan Explains How Calling Her ‘Moti’ Is A Failed Attempt To Bring Her Down!

One thing you’ve got to agree is that Vidya Balan is the fiery goddess we don’t deserve! She is bold, unapologetic and her many bindaas interviews make for a delightfully refreshing watch. And let’s not even get started on her impressive filmography. The National Award winning actress steals our hearts with every movie she is in. Might we say, the Padma Shri is well-bestowed!

Recently, Vidya Balan was a speaker at Day 1 of the Agenda Aaj Tak 2017 conclave, where she pretty much brought the house down!

According to an article by India Today, She was her usual frank self, particularly when she addressed her weight issues, which has always been criticised for.

“Whoever talks about your body weight… wherever you go, I think people are very body-obsessed today. Because if I talk about your brain… Brains don’t sell, that’s why we don’t talk about it. We have no right to comment on anyone’s appearance. This has happened many times with me. When they see me happy, they are confused. As women, when you are successful, this is a way to drag you down. And I don’t give anyone that power.”

Love the lady for not mincing any words, dontcha?

But that wasn’t all. She even opened up about a practice quite rampant in the showbiz and currently making ripples around the world right now.

Vidya Balan opened up about her tryst with sexual harassment at the workplace during a TV show audition with her father.

“The casting director kept looking at my chest. So I asked him, ‘What are you looking at?’ He was flabbergasted. I got the serial too, but did not accept it. I was about 20 years old back then. In the film industry, it is more prevalent than elsewhere. But every industry, in the society… it is prevalent.”

I can only imagine the amount of guts it takes to speak up on a public platform about something as sensitive as this. But is there any feat that Vidya Balan cannot achieve?

You keep those fiery statements coming, Vidya! What do you know, you’ve already had us at ‘Hello’!
